An Analysis of Psychosocial Variables of Defendants Diverted from Jail into Court Mandated Treatment -poster

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

Little is known about the psychosocial characteristics of defendants diverted from jail into community mental health treatment. Because research to date has failed to use psychological or risk assessments pre-diversion, this population has only been described in terms of demographic characteristics. This study represents a first attempt to study the demographic, clinical, criminological, and risk characteristics of individuals (n = 61) diverted from the criminal justice system into community treatment. Scores on the HCR-20, Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI), Psychopathy Checklist: Screening Version (PCL: SV), and M-FAST are reported, as well as diversion compliance, recidivism and violence data at 3-month follow-up.
