Abstract:

One process by which a parent’s rights to his or her child can be terminated in child protection proceedings is when a parent voluntarily consents to the adoption of his or her child. This paper will describe an innovative method employed by the Cook County Juvenile Court Clinic (CCJCC) to provide the Juvenile Court with timely forensic opinions on a parent’s capacity to consent to the adoption of his or her child.
