Abstract:

Sichuan folk music is rooted in the rich historical cultures and traditions of Sichuan area. Industrious, plain Sichuan people created lots of melodious music, which represented the long history and rich cultures of Sichuan. The research focused on the relationship between Sichuan folk music and children’s individual development and tried to find an effective way of starting folk music education among children. It also focused on finding common ground between Sichuan folk music and children’s daily life. It sought to enrich children’s emotional experience, providing aesthetic experiences, and seeking a fusion of tradition and modernism in Sichuan fold music. A three-year research project, based on children’s practical problems, the research group completed an in-depth investigation on how to integrate Sichuan folk music education into kindergarten music education, confirmed the importance of this genre in facilitating children’s development, generalized four principles of integrating it into kindergarten music education, and built up a resource bank of Sichuan Folk Music, which resulted in a remarkable educational effect.
