Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

The current meta-analysis examines the relationship between childhood abuse, both sexual and physical, and adolescent sexual offending and reoffending. Sixteen studies published after 1990 revealed a significant association between childhood sexual abuse and adolescent sexual offending. In addition, a significant relationship was found between childhood sexual and physical abuse and adolescent sexual reoffending. In contrast, no significant relationship was found between abuse and general reoffending. With no prior meta-analyses examining this association, this study aims to shed light on the relationship between childhood abuse and adolescent sexual offending.
