Abstract:

In a climate of economic uncertainty, two African descended women sought and continue to seek economic parity, improvement, and provide economic courage to a community of women besieged by debt, feelings of inadequacy, and in need of help. Both women through self-organized economic networks work to transform the lives of African diasporic women and women from all backgrounds. Using grassroots foundational structure, Dorothy Koger changed lives of countless women through her organization, New Life, Incorporated. While, Marie Eusebe seeks to challenge, enhance, enlighten, and transform the lives of women in the light of personal, professional and societal economic unrest, her organization, Financial Freedom Workshop re-makes women's lives that were devastated due to economic challenges. This paper will investigate how both women used grassroot foundational structure to create an impact on the lives of women within their home communities, and beyond.
