Abstract:

The CALL System is designed around the leadership tasks that research has shown make a difference in improving student learning. This paper addresses two core features of the CALL design process: 1) The five task domains that constitute the assessment, a review of the research evidence to support the focus on these domains, and an account of how we operationalized the domains into survey items. 2) The rationale for building an online formative assessment tool, and the features designed to provide formative feedback on leadership and practice. CALL aims to provide an “inside out” understanding of local practices, intended to move local leaders towards strategies that create the conditions to improve student learning.
