The developing landscape of parenting coordination: Research, theory and practice

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

Parenting Coordination is a rapidly growing alternative dispute resolution (ADR) process that is gaining traction across the United States, Canada, and other countries (Kirkland & Sullivan, 2008; AFCC Task Force Report, 2005). However, there has been little empirical research or widespread knowledge available to support the utility of this process. This workshop will highlight the results of two research studies in Florida (Henry, Fieldstone, & Bohac, 2009; Fieldstone, Carter, King & McHale, 2010) which point to the efficacy of the process, demographics of the families, training and characteristics of PCs, techniques and roles PCs utilize, and identification of aspects of the parenting coordination process which are effective. We will conclude with a brief discussion of a new collaborative Parenting Coordination initiative being designed for piloting with high conflict divorcing Catholic families in Italy.
