Abstract:

Compared to Caucasian women, African American women show less disordered eating and body dissatisfaction. This study examines ethnic identity, disordered eating and body satisfaction in African American and Caucasian women. For African Americans, ethnic identity protects against disordered eating/body dissatisfaction. For Caucasians, ethnic identity increases risk for disordered eating/body dissatisfaction.
