Men Only Want Sex and Women Only Want Relationships? An Analysis of the Heterosexual Script in the Lyrics of Popular Songs

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

This study examined the presence of the heterosexual script in popular music lyrics. The script was pervasive in popular music. The findings also suggest that minority artists, in order to be popular, must uphold stereotypic messages about their race by singing songs that objectify women and portray men as hypersexual.
