Abstract:

The present study examined the relationship between internalization of thin ideals and disordered eating symptomatology in 144 female athletes. A statistically significant relationship between thin ideals and scores on two measures of disordered eating was found, supporting previous research. Implications for objectification theory and disordered eating are discussed.
