Abstract:

Acculturation is associated with depression and smoking among Latina/os. These associations are particularly true for Latinas. Scant information exists about why Latinas are more affected by the acculturation process than Latinos. This study examined the mediating role of perceived discrimination on the associations of acculturation with depression and cigarette smoking in Latina/o youth.
