Abstract:

The author of this paper addresses ethical and medico-legal issues in pharmaceutically funded research in psychiatry from a feminist perspective. She/he offers an account of autonomy, inspired by Foucault, to strengthen informed consent practices. This Foucauldian account of autonomy emphasizes the relational and dialogical aspect of the physician-patient relationship.
