Abstract:

Previous research has demonstrated a link between authenticity in relationships and depression; however, this research has all been cross-sectional. The current longitudinal study examined the relation between authenticity in relationships and depression amongst 7th and 8th graders. Findings indicated that lower levels of depression predicted higher levels of authenticity, but only for girls.
