Fostering Students' Motivation in EFL Through Active Classroom Research

Abstract:

The research work in the country about the learning and teaching process in EFL has focused its attention towards the students’ autonomy before observing their motivation, the base of this process. This presentation will focus on the quantitative findings about the motivational structure of Santo Tomas University students (Bogota, Colombia) qualified through the use of focal groups where a classroom setting is recreated in an unstructured space using alternative pedagogic material. In this way, action research becomes the basis of our work making an important contribution to the actual research work in this field in our country.
