Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

This presentation provides an overview of the goals, structures, and key activities of the READ Trust Fund program. The presentation begins by placing the READ Trust Fund in the context of previous efforts by the World Bank and other donors to enhance countries’ assessment systems and explains how the current program both improves and builds on this legacy. This is followed by a discussion of the structure of READ at the global and country levels as well as a description of the seven countries (Angola, Ethiopia, Kyrgyz Republic, Mozambique, Tajikistan, Vietnam, Zambia) chosen for targeted READ assistance. Emphasis is given to the fact that READ’s main purpose is to help countries improve their institutional capacity to design, carry out, analyze, and use assessments for improved student learning. The presentation concludes with a brief overview of the kinds of activities and tools being developed under READ.
