Abstract:

The role of the private sector is becoming increasingly important in educational development. An increased role of civil society organization in good governance and accountability, as well as their roles in implementing development agenda by partnering with international organizations, has been largely acknowledged by the Accra Agenda for Action. This presentation discusses the current situation of the household and private financing of education and the policy options associated with the contribution of the household expenditures, private providers of education, the increasing role of civil society organizations, and the development of and public-private partnerships.
