Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

USAID will describe how its education strategy developed to include a large and strong focus on professional development; highlight how the National Education Strategy and the Ministry of Education (MoE) reform program informed its strategy; and present how a specific project RFA was developed, re: professional development, in light of the underlying critical development principals and concepts
1. USAID will give a brief background of the history of its assistance to education in Jordan, and its first phase of support to the Ministry of Education (MOE). The USAID education strategy and portfolio, and USAID’s relation and coordination with MoE will be highlighted.
2. USAID will present its rationale in focusing strongly on professional development, and what contributed to the design and approach of its technical support to the MOE.
3. USAID will conclude with a description of and perspective on the current implementation of professional development activities.
USAID’s panel presentation addresses the topic of the group panel from a high policy and strategy level. It sets the stage for the next panel presentation which will be given by USAID’s implementer, CADER.
The underlying theoretical framework is that if teachers and principals are empowered with the skills needed to be change agents, then a school becomes a vibrant and positive center of learning for all: students, staff, parents and the surrounding community. USAID’s panel presentation covers the issue from a policy and strategy perspective to resolving many of the challenges Jordan faces in its education system.
