Web-based teacher training: Analysis from prototype development

Abstract:

Reflecting the rapid development of information communication technology in Mongolia, school infrastructures have been improving in primary schools in Mongolia. Increasing interest among teachers is evident to utilize technology into teaching; including some innovative public private partnership (PPP) and the web-based teacher training has become attractive for Mongolian teachers. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (MECS) developed the first web portal for teacher development in 2009, trying to introduce different types of teacher training mechanism, but lack of effective and attractive training content is the main issue. Mongolian State University of Education in collaboration with MECS, initiated the prototype development of web-based training and intends to create the suitable web-site for educational contents on teacher training. This paper intends to discuss and analyze the pros and cons of the current educational site from both pedagogical and technical aspects, as well as sustainable management aspect.
