Learning4Teaching: Preliminary report on phase one findings, methodological issues, and challenges of transnational research

Abstract:

The third paper picks up from the second to outline the key implementational decisions in launching the research design, and what has happened through those decisions. The selection and affirmation of the research partners, building of the key tools for the Phase One ‘audit’ of professional learning opportunities as well as the Phase Two survey of participation, will be discussed. Any study of this complexity, involving research partners in three countries studying professional and classroom phenomena, is bound to surface challenges in implementation. The third paper outlines these challenges, how the team has approached them, and the lessons we are learning about doing transnational research of this nature. In addition, this paper will report on the findings in the Learning4Teaching project thus far, focusing on Phase One-- the ‘audit’ of professional learning opportunities available to public-sector English teachers in the Chile and Turkey.
