Abstract:

Save the Children (SC) is one of the leading international agencies with extensive experience in the area of early childhood development programming. SC currently works with IREX in Kazakhstan to increase the number and percentage of children in rural oblasts with ECD experience using conditional cash transfer program. Save is helping to provide training to local NGOs or partners to implement quality ECD programs. This paper will provide a brief overview of the status of the CCT ECD program in Kazakhstan. Some of the key intended results include:
Increase pre-primary school attendance among CCT recipients belonging to the lowest income quintile
Increase primary caregiver child rearing practices linked to school readiness
Build community awareness of the importance of early learning experiences
Improve local capacity to deliver quality ECD programming
