Abstract:

Morocco’s most recent reform in the field of agricultural policy, the Plan Maroc Vert, reaffirms the objective of overcoming the traditional imbalances and disparities of a strategic sector for the development of the country, but also marks a new step in the integration of the Moroccan economy within the neo-liberal, global market. This work-in-progress paper wishes to contribute to the exercise of gathering elements for an analysis – or a critique of the plan as it stands today, on the basis of the existing information. The paper focuses in particular on the question of the impact of the PMV on food security, on the environment, and on the question of agricultural labour, and contributes to identify priorities for future research.
