Who are the heavy users of Social Network Sites among College Students? A Study of Social Network Sites and College Students
Unformatted Document Text:    19 Finally, the complementary relationship examined between college students SNS usage and their cell phone, especially text messaging usage provides another explanation of their heavy SNS usage. Since they both serve as important social media to satisfy college students ’ socializing needs and they are both easily accessible to college students, those who spent more time on text messaging to interact with other students tended to spend more time on SNS to further their sociability gratification, and vice versa. As previous studies suggested, the complementary relationship between different social media and the subsequent impacts on college students needs to be further examined. Many cell phones already have built-in social network sites applications for users. Users of SNS will take advantage of this convenient feature and use SNS even more often as college students carry cell phones all the time. SNS use becomes part of cell phone use. Future research can compare behaviors of SNS users on cell phones versus those on computers to examine   how  SNS  was  used  similarly  or  differently  on  different devices.
