A Study of the Urbanization of News Content

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

This research analyzes geographic coverage trends in two American metropolitan newspapers, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Columbus Dispatch, to understand how frequently those newspapers included news about places and people far from their urban coverage areas. A content analysis found a trend away from rural coverage and an increase in coverage in and around urban cores during the five-year time period studies.
