Publication Type: Poster Review Method: Peer Reviewed Abstract: The Sustainability Advocacy program’s purpose is to reach all incoming students about sustainability during their first year. By reaching them early we hope that they can learn how to be sustainable as soon as they enter our community and continue these patterns not only while they are a student, but also incorporate sustainable practices into their lives once they graduate. Through the program students, mainly 1st years, come to biweekly meetings to learn about the many programs and events our school organizes throughout the year as well as easy personal changes they can make to live more sustainably. The Sustainability Advocates then bring that knowledge back to their dorms and distribute it through emails, flyers, and social networks. While the Sustainability Advocates are a wonderful resource for us, I am hoping to expand the program so that these dedicated and driven students can find other outlets for their sustainable ambitions once they are upperclassmen. Our university has over 45 sustainable organizations, and I hope to expand the Sustainability Advocacy program to not only be a volunteer program but to also be a stepping stone for students to finding other organizations to work with at our university.
