What We’ve Learned and How We’ve Used It: Learning Experiences from the Cohort of a High-Quality Principalship Program

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

This study explored a principalship cohorts’ perceptions of their learning experiences and how they have used what they have learned throughout their first year participating in a "high-quality" University-Based Principalship Program (UPP). The results indicated a paradigm shift among the cohort members and how the changes in attitudes, perceptions, and thinking influenced current practice(s). Although effective strategies for school leader preparation programs have been identified, there is a lack of research on the perceptions of current principal candidates regarding the effectiveness of these components. The results of this study may be used by higher education programs to evaluate their school leader preparation programs and to plan appropriate coursework for addressing the future needs of schools.
