Identity Issues and Body Image: Feminism and Lesbian Identity as Insulating Factors

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

Many American women experience cultural pressures to be thin resulting in negative body image and disordered eating behaviors. Although the research available on these experiences is lacking for lesbian women and inconclusive for feminists, it is suspected that these women experience body image and eating behaviors differently from heterosexual women.
