Abstract:

Scholars have long understood that ethnic and economic homogeneity inhibits recognition of privilege and systemic inequality. In addition, lack of diversity that occurs in an environment of relative economic depression creates further obstacles in the promotion of critical consciousness for those who might most directly benefit from such a perspective.
