Abstract:

Psychological abuse is conceptualized and measured based on experiences of battered women as victims, but research documents that women may also be abusive to male partners. Undergraduates responded to vignettes in which the gender of the perpetrator and target of abuse was manipulated. Perceptions varied as a function of gender.
