Abstract:

This study examined self-sexualization, gender role ideology, body esteem, self-confidence, activity domains, acceptance of harassment, and self-surveillance in elementary-aged girls. Wearing sexualized clothing was associated with low body esteem, while high masculinity was associated with less acceptance of harassment and greater confidence and high femininity was associated with high self-surveillance.
