Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

This research advances understanding of the transmedia experience in local TV news by examining mediated relationships in the form of parasocial interaction (PSI). This study tested both the TV PSI and Web PSI constructs and their influence on the online local TV news audience’s distribution of news content. Through this examination, the study introduces the concept of viral viewers. These viewers are willing to promote the station and its content across platforms. This study used an online survey to answer four hypotheses. Regression models show persona remains important in the management and marketing of local TV brands in the digital age.
