Abstract:

Abstract: During the last decade Sweden has increasingly become a multicultural society, but also a society marred by persistent ethnic and social segregation in big-cities. In some of these areas we have witnessed soaring level of conflicts between police and local youths resulting in stone-throwing at police cars and complaints by the youths about discrimination and police harassment. In this presentation I’ll bring up some structural and relational causes behind this development as well as some attempts to settle down the conflicts and work with prevention.
