Historical Timelines: Rethinking Our Visualization of the Past

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

The growing body of digital archives gives visual communicators the opportunity to construct alternative historical narratives that go beyond traditional, hegemonic "great men" discourse. Interactive timelines are one way in which to utilize such archival material to create more democratic, bottom-up histories, and make them widely available through the web.
