Abstract:

This research is a historical account of Hoyt Fuller’s role as Editor-in-Chief of Black World magazine. Fuller shaped the content of Black World and used the magazine as a platform to promote the Black Arts Movement and African culture. Hampering his efforts were consistent conflicts with the publisher of the magazine, John H. Johnson over economic support. This study entails a textual analysis of Black World and examines its content over a three-year period.
