1. Cisse, Boubacar. "Beating the odds in educational achievements" Paper presented at the annual meeting of the 55th Annual Conference of the Comparative and International Education Society, Fairmont Le Reine Elizabeth, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, <Not Available>. 2019-09-18 <>
Publication Type: Panel Paper
Abstract: Note: This presentation will be experientially-based rather than research-based so the criteria of ‘clarity of research methods’ and ‘clarity of theoretical framework’ are not directly applicable.

The AGSP program seeks to address historical inequities in access to education by explicitly targeting vulnerable, disadvantaged and marginalized youth who would otherwise be excluded from educational opportunities to receive scholarships and mentoring support.

The combination of academic scholarships and mentoring enables scholars to advance beyond purely access and enrollment to focus on higher level goals such as improved academic performance, completion and progression to advanced levels of education and finally graduation/attainment of a recognized degree
