Publication Type: Conference Paper/Unpublished Manuscript
Abstract: Hollifield asks to what extent the French republican model remains viable in debates over immigration and integration in France, in light of the rise and decline of the Front National, the fragmentation of the left, and the emergence of a new consensus on the right for carefully regulated immigration, based on the needs of the French economy “immigration chosie et non subie.” The paper also looks at how European integration has changed the French approach to immigration control and integration.
