Abstract: Based on a case study of two Chinese literature courses in America, this paper examines the politics behind the marginalinity of Chinese in classes of Chinese literature. It proposes several methods of integrating the “other” voice, i.e., Chinese, into literature classes for a cross-fertilization between language instruction and literature teaching.
