Abstract: From an international/feminist perspective, Christina Violeta Jones investigates how female institutions and organizers in the Dominican Republic formed to improve the economic and racial conditions for black women from the 1920s to the 1990s. Jones’s study illustrates how Dominican women identified with their African ancestry alongside a larger Africanization movement that began to form in the Dominican Republic.
