Abstract: This study explores how side sequences allow language learners to engage in a variety of interactional practices not typically available to them in traditional classroom environments. By encouraging this shift to more symmetrical interaction, the teacher manages to promote learner participation, while the students demonstrate diverse interactional competencies.
