Abstract: African American women are frequently portrayed in sexualized roles in movies, music videos, and reality television. African American adolescents may internalize these stereotypes increasing their risk for engagement in risky behaviors. A sports-centered psychosocial intervention is presented that proposes developing the body as a source of strength, not an object.
